PROGRAMME OUTCOMES

BA English Literature

  • Ability to apply knowledge of Language, Literature, and History.
  • Ability to use appropriate knowledge to identify and analyze literary techniques in texts.
  • Ability to create a simple poem or a short
  • Ability to select and apply, appropriate literary theories to analyze a text.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member in the fields like Teaching, Mass Media, and BPS.
  • Ability to communicate plain literary concepts within the profession and with society at large. The ability includes reading, writing, speaking and listening, and it enables them to comprehend, write, edit and review.
  • Ability to understand the roles and responsibilities of the literature professional.
  • Ability to identify and to address their own needs in a changing world and apply life-long learning to maintain their competence and to allow them to contribute to the societal growth.

MA English Literature

  • Ability to apply knowledge of Language, Literature, Criticism, Psychology and History.
  • Ability to use appropriate knowledge and skills to identify, formulate, analyze, and solve complex problems in order to reach substantiated conclusions.
  • Ability to conduct investigations of complex problems through appropriate analysis and interpretation of literature to reach valid conclusions.
  • Ability to create any kind of genre in literature.
  • Ability to create, select, apply, adapt, and extend appropriate literary theories and techniques with an understanding of the associated limitations.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member and leader in the fields like Teaching, Mass Media, BPS, and Human Resource Management.
  • Ability to communicate complex literary concepts within the profession and with society at large. The ability includes reading, writing, speaking and listening, and it enables them to comprehend, write, edit and review.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of English of SRCAS offers Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Research programmes in English Literature: B.A., M.A.,  M.Phil., and Ph.D. It offers Part II English courses for all the first year undergraduate students. It encourages the students to cultivate flexible and responsive thinking that would develop their writing, communication and argumentative skills.
