Objectives
- Development and application of quality benchmark / parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution
- Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conductive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process
- Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes
- Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education
- Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles
- Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement
- Acting as a nodal agency of the institution for coordinating quality –related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices
- Development and maintenance of institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining/enhancing the institutional quality
- Development of quality culture in the institution
- Preparing of the last quality assurance report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC
Activities
Study Tour – Malaysia and Singapore
Dr G. Agila, Dr N. Muthumani, Dr Prince Paul Antony and Dr R. Geetha undertook a study tour to Asia Pacific University, Malaysia, Manipal International University and Amity University Singapore for a period from 30th September 2017 to 7th October 2017. The objective of the visit was to have study abroad programme and research exchange programmes. The plan for one course abroad was finalised with the areas of study, dates of the programme. Discussions were also held to conduct the International Conference on Contemporary issues.


Twinning Programme with Asia Pacific University, Malaysia
Sri Ramakrishna College offers the most wonderful opportunity for the students in the name of TWINNING PROGRAMME. The MoU signed with Asia Pacific University has paved the way for our students to undergo a Course at APU, Malaysia. 18 final year students from the School of Commerce have successfully completed a Course at APU in January 2018. Among the Arts & Science Colleges, SRCAS is the first to offer this kind of a programme.Sri Ramakrishna Business School organized an Educational Trip to Malaysia fromJan 26th to Feb 1st 2018, with a view to enhance the students withe Latest development in Educational field.


LEARNATHON
A remarkable event, LEARNATHON, a 24 hour learning programme, was conducted by ICTACT for 100 students from the School of Computing on 2nd& 3rd February 2018. In the Learnathon, SRCAS stood first among the Arts and Science College and in general, ranked one among the top 15 Colleges in India.
MoU
In the month of May, SRCAS signed a MoU with University of Helsinki and Lahti University of Applied Sciences, Finland to carry out Academic and Research activities. In the month of July, the Department of International Business signed a MoU with Nuovafil&Infoteck Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore. In February 2018, the Department of Biotechnology signed a MoU with Nature Science Foundation, Coimbatore to focus on Academic and Research oriented activities. TIP – Training Internship and Placement Department has signed a MoU with Naandi Foundation (Mahindra Pride School), in September, to train our students under CSR‟s Youth Employability Initiative. One of the key components needed to procure a job orto become a successful entrepreneur is English Language and Communication. To hone the language skills of the students, in the month of January, the college has signed a MoU with The Hindu, to offer a Course called STEP (Standardized Test for English Proficiency). The 60 hour training programme, going to be offered in the month of May, will help every student to improve his English fluency.

EXTENSION ACTIVITIES
NSS
NSS Special Camp at tribal villages of Anaikatti was organized from 08.12.2017 to 14.12.2017. In all awareness programmes, rallies and service oriented activities conducted at Coimbatore, NSS of SRCAS is a volunteer. NSS Volunteers Mr. S. Siranjeevi of II B.Sc. Chemistry and Ms. R.S. Niranjana of II B.Sc. Physics attended the Prestigious Republic Day Parade Camp at New Delhi for the year 2018. In June 2016, SRCAS - NSS team was awarded Swachhagrahi award for making highest participation for SwachhSurvekshan and the Best Cooperating team in all the commitments with Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation.
NSS Programme Officer Prof. S. Prahadeeshwaran and his team got Real Hero Award 2017 from Covai Youth Foundation. Prof. S. Prahadeeshwaran and NSS Volunteer Mr. M.G. YokendraNiruruthish of II B.Sc. Mathematics received an honorary award from Coimbatore Corporation for assisting in clean and
green Diwali celebration. Mr. M. Vishnu of II year B. Com. PA secured the second position in Short Film Competition in „SwachhSankalpSeySwachh Siddhi (S5) - MHA category' at the National level.
Sevvuyir Voluntary Blood Donor Club
Sevvuyir Voluntary Blood Donor Club was awarded as The Best Blood Donor Organizer in October 2017.
NCC
Sgt. K. Gowtham of II year B. Com. PA, Sgt D. Surya Velayudam of II B.Sc. CS & HM and Sgt. D. Bavath of II year B.Sc. Physics, attended the prestigious National Republic Day Camp in the category of Drill and Cultural at New Delhi for the year 2018. Our NCC Cadet, G. Jothish Kumar received the Best Cadet Award with Cash Prize ₹.3500 from NCC Directorate on 3rd July 2017.
O. Sri Ram attended a One Month Special Training- Basic Mountaineering Course in Jammu and Kashmir in July. Sgt. Sajeev is the First Student of SRCAS who attended the National ThalSanic Camp in at Delhi.
A Seminar on “Anti-Tobacco Moment” was organized in August. No Tobacco Awareness Rally wasorganized in September. An Awareness Programme on Swatch Bharat and No Tobacco were conducted at Anaikatti Village in December. Combined Weapon Training, Weapon Drill and Map Reading classes were arranged for NCC cadets of 6TN MED COY NCC in our college ground in February 2018. 13 of our NCC cadets attended „B‟ Certificate Examination and 17 of our NCC cadets attended „C‟ Certificate Examination. Along with ANO, 15 of our cadets participated in 15th
All India Conference Cancer Care India and had given a presentation and an Awareness Mime Programme in December.
ROTARACT
Rotaract celebrated Independence Day with the public. A workshop was conducted for the Board Members. An Orientation Programme on “Self Development” was organized for the members. The Club donated Books to AravanaikkumAnbuIllam, Coimbatore. The Rotaract has achieved BestInternational Service Project Award for an event Mercicops. Rtr. Anushka Sharon has bagged an award for Best Introductory Speech, and Rtr. Shyam Nair is recognized as Star Secretary.
EXTRACURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
MANAVAR MANRAM
Mr. T. Stalin Gunasekaran, President Makkal Sinthanai Peravai Erode, inaugurated ManavarManram for the year 2017-18. Manram conducted various inter-department cultural competitions in July. The overall winner of Manavar Manram for the academic year (2017-2018) is B.Sc., Electronics and the runner is B.Com PA. Manavar Manram celebrated Teachers Day on 05th September 2017. ManavarManram organized Pongal competitions on 12th January 2018. An interschool Cultural Junior Scenario was organized on 13th October 2017 for school children. Scenario 2018, an Intercollegiate Cultural Carnival was organized on 2rd march 2018 and around 40 colleges took part in it. Gandhi Gram Rural Institute-Deemed to be University.
FINE ARTS CLUB
Inauguration of Fine Arts Club and Manavar Manram held in September. The active Fine Arts Club took part almost in all College‟s Cultural Competitions in and around Coimbatore and won nearly ONE LAKH as Cash Prize. There is no event left untouched by our students. Shirlaya, a club for Music, does a wonderful Service by providing Music Therapy for Cancer Patients in Government Hospital. Monthly twice the club members meet the patients.
ENGLISH LITERARY CLUB & LIT AURA
The clubs conducted Interdepartmental Literary competitions in the month of September. The two clubs introduce a number of activities to their members to master Language and Literary skills. The two clubs train the students to take part in various literary competitions. The students have won prizes in Nehru College of Arts and Science, NGP College of Arts and Science and VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science.
SCIENCE CLUB
35 of Science Club members participated in “Meet Your Scientist” program at Regional Science Centre. National Science Day was celebrated on 28th February and on the day the students exhibited 60 projects. 34 papers & 11 posters were presented.
IQ CLUB
IQ corner of the Club daily displays tricky mathematical questions to the students. Whats App Group of IQ Club actively discusses IQ and Aptitude related questions daily after working hours. The club makes the students to participate in various competitions.
NATURE CLUB
Green Auditing was conducted in November 2017. A MoU was signed with Nature Science Foundation, Coimbatore. Nature Walk and Educational Trips were arranged.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL
Women Empowerment Cell was inaugurated in the month of August. The inauguration was followed by “Handloom for Nation and Handloom for Fashion”. An awareness session on “Legal Rights for Women” was conducted in October. 200 students were benefitted out of it. The test session for “legal Rights for Women” has been conducted in November and it was sponsored by commission for Women. An awareness programme was conducted in December on Financial Literacy for Young Investors”. In the same month “A Cookie Baking Workshop” was conducted for students. Self DefenceProgramme was organized in January for II year girls. Yoga class was conducted for the first years. The Cell extended the awareness on “Good Touch andBad Touch” to Sri Ramakrishna Matriculation Higher Secondary School children. In February a Cake Baking Workshop was organized for women Faculty members. On March 8th International Women‟s day was celebrated and previously on 6th a rally was conducted to stop Child Abuse‟.
SPORTS
Physical Education Department conducted the selection trials for various games.
Our Cricket team stood Runner-up in the Bharathiar University Inter collegiate „A‟ Zone Cricket Tournament. We stood runner-up in the recently concluded CDCA‟S 9th Inter Collegiate Cricket tournament.
Our student Mr. N. Mohammed Ashok and Mr. Imran bagged the Best Batsman and Best Wicket keeper Awards. Our College, Handball Team Secured 4th place in the Bharathiar University Inter Collegiate Handball tournament.
Mr. N. Jagadeesan of I-MBA played Ranji Trophy for Tamil Nadu. He has been selected for Chennai Super Kings for the forthcoming IPL and he is playing for Dindugul Drayaris in the TNPL.
Mr. M. Abinav of I - MBA is selected for Ranji one day squad and under 23 Tamil Nadu State.
Mr. J. K. Aswin, I - BBA (CA) in Track Asia Championship had Won Gold Medal in Men Junior Team Sprint, Bronze Medal in Individual Sprint.
Mr. G. Sabarinathan of I – MBA participated in the Guinness World Record of 101 Hrs. Non-stop Tamil Nadu Traditional Cultural and Sports festival (Sillambam) at Hindustan College.
Mr. S. Balaji of I – B.com won the Gold medal in the National Stick fight and Silver medal in the MaanKombu fight last week at Chennai.
MBA student C. Rajesh won Gold Medal in 200 Metres. in the Bharathiar University Sports Meet. He has been selected to represent Bharathiar University in the All India Inter University Sports Meet in the Chief Minister‟s Sports Meet C. Rajesh won the Gold Medal in 200 Metres. and he has been selected to Chief Minister‟s State level Sports Meet.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES
Students of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts & Science ranked top 12 in the search of 100 innovative ideas of students in Higher Education. SRCAS is the only Arts and Science College competed with engineering institutions around Tamil Nadu and got selected in the top 18 finalists. “Tamil Nadu Student Innovators 2017” is the student start up activation program organized by KCT Forge Accelerator in association with EDII – Tamil Nadu, awarded the top 12 after adjudging 100 ideas from institutions across the state. The idea of real time Weather Prediction System was presented by SRCAS E-Cell members and students of Physics Department Prasanna Kumar. D, ArchanaAmala. A and Aravind R. K ranked among the top 12 of the 18 final shortlisted ideas pitched & Contested. The Team was awarded with the cash prize of Rs. 25,000 to build their prototype, and given with Free Fellowship and Consulting Opportunities for their final year project at Forge Accelerator.
Entrepreneurship Development initiatives:
The Entrepreneur Development Cell was started in the year 2003, with the purpose of promoting Entrepreneurship as a career option for students. Technology and Globalization are ushering an era of unprecedented change. Perhaps there is no mantra as strong as today, as one about the need and pressure for change and Innovation. Business and Nations have to respond innovatively to these developments to continue their growth. As the need for Emerging Technology of today’s world, SRCAS has incorporated an Entrepreneurship Development Cell for the Budding Entrepreneurs.
Major activities at E-cell:
- Entrepreneurship Development Cell has taken efforts to raise concern of students for self-employment and reduce the anxiety and stress for their utilization after the completion of studies.
- Inculcating Entrepreneurial values among the students in order to develop knowledgeable and Technological Entrepreneurs through the Guest Lectures, Seminars, Training and Workshops.
- Assisting the student Entrepreneurs in establishing New Business, Developing and maintaining their enterprises through business advisory and consultancy services.
- Conducting awareness program camp for students and also assist them to interact with entrepreneurs.
- Organizing Boot camps for E leaders.
- Assisting women students in Entrepreneurial skills.
Alumni coordination
Alumni Association is one of the strongest with a separate coordinator for the same. It conducts interactions every year. The Alumnus of the college helps the Institution by the way of providing placements, Intern and scholarship. In the year 2016-17, our Alumni provided a total scholarship of Rs. 4,89,650 for 39 deserving students who are economically poor.
